MECCA sympsosium at SRA conference
A MECCA symposium was held at the conference for the annual meeting for Society of Analysis in Bergen, Norway, 27-29 Sept 2022. This symposium showcased the initial findings of the MECCA project. Dr Stefan Liersch presented the role of different domains held responsible for the causes, consequences, and actions of climate change. Dr. Usman Isyaku explored local perceptions of experts and communities about climate change risk in Lagos and Lake Victoria. Dr. Tobias Pilz demonstrated how climate change intensifies extreme rainfall and leads to higher flood risk in Lagos, Nigeria. Dr. Karlijn van den Broek presented a new tool for capturing mental models and illustrate its use in the MECCA project to capture mental models of climate change risk in West and East Africa. Finally, Dr Charles Ogunbode explored the relationship between risk perception and climate emotions in Lagos, Nigeria.
